Growing up, my family battled with compulsive behaviors, mental illness, and dysfunction. After high school, I quickly joined the Marine Corps. And I served on three deployments (Iraq, Korea, and Southeast Asia). Throughout my service, I secretly struggled with an eating disorder, depression, and suicidal thoughts. After being honorably discharged, my symptoms became so debilitating that I became homeless. As a result, I finally found the willingness to receive professional help through the VA and spent four months at UCSD Eating Disorders Center. Bowen Family Systems
Bowen Family Systems Therapy, or BFST, is an innovative approach to family therapy that focuses on the family unit as an emotional system. Developed by Dr. Murray Bowen, this therapeutic approach aims to nurture change and development within the family system, emphasizing the interconnectedness of family members and helping them navigate their relationships more healthily.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
CBT is grounded in the belief that it is a person’s perception of events – rather than the events themselves – that determines how he or she will feel and act in response.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
DBT is a cognitive-behavioral approach imbued with the core dialectical philosophy that embraces balance and integration. EMDR

Motivational Interviewing (MI)
